As of June 1st, 2011 all applications for the program cycle beginning September 2011 will be taken at our main office at One Clough Street Springfield, MA 01118. The program will be located at this address beginning in July. In order to be eligible for this program, you must be between the ages of 17-24 and in need of your GED. This program is a career development program and requires an interest in working towards the development of a career interest. You must participate in all aspects of the program, not just GED classes.
Step 1: Walk-in to the location above between the hours of 930am and 330pm Monday-Friday and request to fill out an application. In order for an application to be complete, you MUST bring with you the following documents:
- MA Identification or driver's license. Learners permits are not accepted.
- Original birth certificate
- Original signed social security card
Step 2: once we receive a completed application, you will be invited to an informational session to learn more about the program. Following this session, you will take a TABE test (Test of Adult Basic Education). Informational sessions will begin in July and will be announced on after the 4th of July holiday.
Step 3: If you score high enough on the TABE, you will be invited to an interview
Step 4: If you interview well and submit additional required documentation, you will then be invited to a 2-3 week Youthbuild orientation held in September. You must be able to be on time every day without any absences, in order to complete orientation and go through a 2nd interview to determine if you will be placed into the program, denied placement or placed on a waitlist. This orientation period is an opportunity for you to show participation, commitment and motivation towards positive change.
