What To Do If You Have Been Victimized
Sexual Assault
If you’ve been sexually assaulted, the YWCA provides an array of private, confidential services designed to restore your safety and give you control of the situation. Our hotline is available 24/7, and we offer counseling in individual and group settings, as well as medical, legal, and police advocacy.
Domestic Violence
If you’ve been abused, the YWCA provides a range of services designed to secure safety for you and your children, prevent further abuse, and help you put your life back in order. Our services include:
- 24-hour hotline with trained responders
- Emergency shelter for women and children
- SAFEPLAN program to help obtain restraining orders
- Access to medical services, employment and educational opportunities
- Legal counseling
- Day care
- Safe, secure environments for supervised visitation
- Transitional housing
The YWCA service model is designed to make you secure, not invisible. Our Clough Street campus offers state-of-the-art computerized surveillance without locking you away in a hidden safehouse. We provide you a secure voicemail and mailing address so you can stay in touch with your workplace and your children’s school. You’ll have caseworkers and therapists, if you need them, as well as day care for your children.
Hiding domestic violence doesn’t stop it. We prefer to give women liberty as well as security, while providing the resources they need to take control of the situation and resume their lives.
